Q: Why is Certiport implementing an expiration policy for certifications?
A: Certiport is updating its certification policy to align with evolving industry standards. Introducing an expiration date ensures that certified individuals maintain up-to-date skills and knowledge aligned with current technologies and practices.
Q: When does the new policy go into effect?
A: The policy takes effect on June 18, 2025. Certifications earned on or after this date will expire in five years, with some exceptions. Please note: The policy will go into effect later for Cisco Certified Support Technician, which will begin July 15, 2025.
Q: Do certifications earned before June 18, 2025, expire?
A: No. Certiport certifications that did not previously have an expiration and are earned before June 18, 2025, will not expire and will remain valid indefinitely. Adobe and Meta exams will continue their current expiration policy that was in place before June 18th, 2025. Please note: For Cisco Certified Support Technician certifications, the expiration policy will begin July 15, 2025. Certifications earned before that day will remain valid indefinitely.
Q: How long will certifications be valid if earned after expiration policy is implemented?
A: Certifications issued on or after the expiration policy has been implemented, will be valid for five years, with some exceptions:
- Adobe Certified Professional certifications will continue to expire after three years.
- Meta Certified Digital Marketing Associate certification will continue to expire after two years.
- Microsoft Certified Fundamentals certifications will not expire.
Q: What happens when a certification expires?
A: When a certification expires, it will no longer be considered current. To maintain certification status, individuals will need to recertify by passing the current version of the exam. To view when a certification expires, you can look in your Certiport account and click on My Transcripts. It will appear there or on the PDF version of your certificate found on this page.
Q: How can I recertify?
A: To recertify, simply:
- Purchase a new exam voucher. If you are in the US, you can purchase vouchers and online proctoring at .
- Schedule and pass the current version of the exam associated with your certification
Q: Will the expiration date be shown on my certificate or transcript?
A: Yes. For certifications earned on or after June 18, 2025 (or July 15, 2025), the expiration period will be clearly noted on digital certificates and Certiport transcripts.
Q: Does this policy apply to all Certiport certifications?
A: No. This expiration policy applies to most certifications issued through Certiport after the expiration period effective date. Microsoft Fundamentals will not implement an expiration policy.
